The initial products developed and manufactured by Scientific Instruments were cryogenic instruments such as cryogenic temperature sensors including Germanium Resistance thermometers and Silicon Diodes. These temperature sensing devices created opportunities in the aerospace, industrial and laboratory research industries. Of particular note is the fact that SII supplied a number of Germanium Resistance thermometers that were installed into Helium and Hydrogen systems on the Apollo space craft and at the end of the 1960’s flew on lunar landing missions.
The company presently is active in seven distinct product areas, although separate; these products are “synergistic” as they are technologically related to temperature and liquid level measurement and control. With one exception, all product areas supported by Scientific Instruments are related to cryogenic applications, meaning extremely low temperatures, typically in range of 0.05K to 300.0K (-462.0F to +250.0F).

The Scientific Instruments, single-channel Model SCM-10 Temperature Monitor provides the accuracy, resolution, and interface features of a benchtop temperature monitor in an easy to use, easily integrated, compact instrument.
With two or four input channels with ethernet connectivity, these multi channel temp monitor are the most flexible and accurate temperature monitors currently available. The monitor's front panel consists of a large, bright TFT-LCD display a 4-key keypad, an audio alarm and three status LEDs. Several display formats may be selected. Up to eight temperature readings may be displayed simultaneously or two channels with input names and temperature shown in a large easy to read font. Additional screens include temperature readings along with relay and alarm status information. A single key press takes the screen to a menu tree where most features and functions of the instrument can be configured.The status of built-in alarms and relays is indicated by LEDs located below the display
The easy to use Model 9700 Cryogenic Temperature Controller from Scientific Instruments is designed with improved sensor input and interface flexibility, including the ability to interface with negative temperature coefficient RTD's and Chromel® vs. Gold thermocouples. The Model 9700 can display two sensor inputs simultaneously using two high resolution 24-bit analog-to digital converters with a separate current source for each input. Also included as standard equipment is communtication interfaces via a serial RS-232 port and a parallel IEEE-488 bus. The Model 9700 is also equipped with 2 relays and Accu-tune autotuning in the control circuitry.
