Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the transition of complex designs into efficient, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing processes. This role bridges design engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure products are built safely, cost-effectively, and to specification. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on, technically rigorous environment and enjoys solving real-world manufacturing challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace or scientific hardware
- Translate engineering designs into detailed work instructions, routings, and process documentation
- Design and validate tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods to improve quality and efficiency
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from prototype through full-rate production
- Identify and resolve manufacturing issues related to yield, quality, cost, and schedule
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with design, quality, test, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, safety regulations)
- Assist with supplier manufacturing reviews and production readiness assessments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, inspection, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Experience with process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, cryogenic systems, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing
- Familiarity with electromechanical assemblies
- Experience with CAD tools and manufacturing software
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices
